If you can, take a moment to breathe. Stop whatever you're doing and concentrate on your breathing. If you're in public, then you might want to skin this tip. When you're feeling stressed the last thing you want is a lot of people looking at you and some 'are you okay?'s from strangers. Don't worry, I've gotcha covered in the following tips!
Take yourself out of the situation
Don't be afraid to walk away. If something's going on around you that makes you feel at all stressed or anxious then walking away from it is your best option.
Stop over thinking the situation
Depending on what type of situation you're in, ask yourself some questions...
What is the worst that could happen? Be realistic.
Is the outcome actually so bad?
Overthinking things never helps you, it just builds thoughts up in your head and makes the stress feel a hell of a lot worse.

Find a way to distract yourself

Find a way to distract yourself
Wether that be going on a walk, phoning up a friend, or just trying to think about something else, distractions are really helpful to lowering your stress level. The more you take your mind of something the less of a big deal it seems. Its important to take some time out of the situation to come to your senses.
Breathing is so important for keeping your cool, just taking one huge breath in for 8 seconds and exhaling usually eliminates most if not all of my stress!

DeleteThese are great tips for all those stressful times. Deep breaths and always stepping out of the situation and looking at it as though you were giving advice to someone else is really helpful.

Yes, I find giving myself advice and trying to see it from the point of view of the people around me so helpful xx
DeleteWhen I'm stressed I'm distracting myself by... counting. From 1000 down (because I need to think about it more). In long term meditation is really helpful because you can try to "find the feeling of calmness" and stick to it
